Threads of Earth, Strokes of Spirit: The World of Sandra Prest Froher
Written by Yuliya Suleymanova
In the lush, salt-kissed wilds of Vancouver Island, where the earth breathes in moss and memory, Sandra Prest Froher is not merely creating fashion; she is conducting a dialogue with the land. A Canadian artist, fashion designer, and natural dyer of Stó:lō descent, Prest-Froher has rooted her creative universe in the sacred act of listening to her ancestors, to the elements, and to the invisible energies that pulse through time and fabric alike. A member of the Sqwá First Nation, Froher lives and works on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, a location that is not incidental, but instrumental to her process. It’s here that she forages for leaves, bark, seeds, and roots, transforming them into pigments that will eventually stain silk with whispers of origin, spirit, and place. The result is a striking line of eco-dyed, wearable art: earthborn, slow-crafted, and sensorially alive.

Written by SULÉY ERACosta Rica, renowned for its biodiversity and environmental sustainability, its stunning landscapes and eco-tourism, boasts a rich cultural heritage, including an exciting art scene. Costa Rica’s art scene, though rich and diverse, has long been overshadowed despite the fact that emerging artwork and even famous Costa Rican paintings have been widely available. Limited media coverage, insufficient infrastructure, and lack of investment in cultural sectors hinder the growth and recognition of Costa Rican art.
MÍRAME Fine Art, a pioneering platform dedicated to showcasing and promoting the diverse talents of contemporary Costa Rican artists on a global stage, is changing this narrative by championing local talent, fostering cultural appreciation, and building bridges to the international art world.
